In this particular case study we did not define the APIs, nor did we define the DB Schema or calculate the metadata size (which seems important, especially for client side). Is there a criteria we use to determine when to define these characteristics versus when these may not be needed or important? This inconsistency of approach makes it harder to absorb material from one case study to next and also leaves some open questions.

The dropbox question is basically the video from dropbox tech talk with very little thought put into it to go beyond and follow a clear guide.
Positive side of this is you get to learn about new way to approach the problem if you are not able to think about database schema. Design round can do in any direction.
