DNS configured using DHCP

There is a statement:
“This local DNS server is typically configured on the client machine either using a protocol called DHCP or can be configured statically.”

This is not very clear to me.
I would like to read more about the connection between local dns and dhcp. where can I get this material?
Thanks

Hi Xenia,
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) and DNS (Domain Name System) both work across the client-server architecture though they are different terms. While DNS maps the name of the domain to the IP address, DHCP is a protocol that assigns the IP address to the host in a network either dynamically or statically.
The DHCP service can use DNS in two ways: The DHCP server can look up the hostname that is mapped to an IP address that the server is assigning to the client. The DHCP server can attempt to make a DNS mapping on a client’s behalf if the DHCP server is configured to update DNS.
