In the highlevel design of the problem of dropbox

here it is written that block server, synchronization server why they are not service and what is the difference ?

Hi @sara1

A Web Service is an application that can be accessed over a network, such as the internet.
A Web Server is a program that delivers content over HTTP. So, if you want your Web service to be accessed over the internet, you’ll set it up on a Web Server.

In this lesson, block server, metadata server and synchronization servers are providing services i.e., handling workflow between client and dedicated storage, therefore we used the term server, instead of service.

If you still face any confusion, feel free to ask.
